1. Scope

AI Video Insight ("we," "us," or "our") operates the AI Video Insight Chrome extension and aivideoinsight.com (the "Service"). This policy explains what data the Service processes, why it is processed, where it is sent, and how long it is retained.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier, email address, display name, and profile photo URL. We use this information for authentication, account display, favorites sync, Credits, and subscription management.

2.2 Video data you choose to process

On a YouTube watch page, the extension reads the current video's ID, title, URL, thumbnail, duration, chapter markers, and available subtitle track. Subtitle text is extracted locally in your browser. It is sent for secure processing only after you choose an AI generation action such as Summary, Study Notes, or SEO Pack.

We do not download the video or audio file. We do not store raw subtitle text in our server database. Generated outputs may be cached for up to 7 days to avoid charging users repeatedly for the same request.

2.3 Usage, saved content, and billing data

  • AI Credit charges, refunds, action type, video duration, and billing-cycle counters.
  • Subscription status and Stripe customer or subscription references.
  • Favorites you explicitly save, including video metadata and generated content.
  • Public or unlisted share pages you explicitly create.

2.4 Information we do not collect

  • We do not collect general browsing history or activity outside the extension's supported pages.
  • We do not build or sell a YouTube viewing-history profile.
  • We do not collect payment card numbers. Stripe processes payment details directly.
  • We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide requested features: Extract subtitles, generate summaries and creator outputs, render mind maps, and create exports or share pages.
  • Authentication and sync: Keep you signed in and synchronize saved favorites and preferences.
  • Credits and subscriptions: Enforce lifetime, billing-cycle, and daily safety limits; process refunds for failed AI requests.
  • Security and reliability: Detect abuse, troubleshoot failures, and protect the Service from excessive automated requests.

4. Service Providers

4.1 Google Firebase

Firebase Authentication verifies sign-in, and Firestore stores account, Credits, subscription, favorites, generated caches, and share-page records. See Google's Privacy Policy.

4.2 AI generation processing

When you start an AI generation, we send only the subtitle text and instructions needed to produce the requested output through our contracted processing infrastructure. This processing is performed solely to provide the feature you requested. The specific infrastructure may change as we improve quality, reliability, security, or cost.

4.3 Stripe

Stripe processes subscriptions and payment details. We receive transaction and subscription status, but not full card numbers. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.

5. Extension Permissions

  • storage: Stores preferences, authentication state, and up to 50 per-video caches on your device. Per-video caches expire after 7 days.
  • scripting and tabs: Reconnect the packaged YouTube subtitle extractor to an already-open YouTube video after installation, update, or browser-session changes. The extension injects only its packaged files and never downloads executable code.
  • sidePanel: Displays the product beside the current YouTube video.
  • identity: Runs the Google sign-in flow that you explicitly start.
  • Website access: Limited to YouTube watch pages, required Google Firebase API endpoints, and aivideoinsight.com.

6. Local Storage and Retention

  • Local video cache: Subtitle text and generated results may be stored on your device for up to 7 days, with a maximum of 50 videos. You can remove this data by clearing the extension's site data or uninstalling the extension.
  • Raw subtitle requests: Raw subtitle text is processed transiently and is not written to our application database.
  • Generated caches: Server-side generated-result caches expire after 7 days.
  • Favorites and share pages: Retained until you delete them, their selected expiry is reached, or your account is deleted.
  • Account, Credits, subscription, and refund records: Retained while your account is active and as needed for security, billing integrity, dispute handling, and legal obligations.

Account-deletion requests are completed within 30 days unless a longer period is required by law.

7. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS, verified Firebase ID tokens, server-side entitlement checks, signed Stripe webhooks, access controls, rate limits, and locally packaged extension code. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

AI Video Insight's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can view and delete favorites from the dashboard.
  • You can keep subtitle text from being sent for AI processing by not starting an AI generation.
  • You can export generated content and request a portable copy of account data.
  • You can request correction, restriction, objection, or account deletion where applicable.
  • We do not discriminate against users who exercise privacy rights.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
